The Cabin in the Woods, directed by Drew Goddard and written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard will probably be the best thriller you’ll ever see. It’s more than scary gore, this plot has a serious twist that you could never imagine. This is a story about five collage- age friends that go to remote cabin in the woods, only to find that things might not be what they seem. The basement is filled with unique and interesting artifacts and before they know it, the friends are fighting for their lives and for a way out of the cabin. The old man at the gas station warned them, but they could have never imagined what was in store. Put The Cabin In the Woods at the top of your films list and you won’t be disappointed.

American Reunion

Adam Herz, the writer for the previous American Pie movies, returns with another blockbuster hit. This time, Jim and his friends are all grown up and living their separate lives, but they make their way back to East Great Falls, Michigan for their high school reunion. Jim and Michelle are parents, Kevin is married, Oz is a sportscaster, Finch drives a motorcycle and Stifer has a whole new set of antics to get the gang together just like in the good old days. Directed by Jon Hurwitx and Hayden Schlossberg, and starring Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, and Seann William Scott, this movie has earned its place on the greatest movies list, right next to all the other American Pie hit films.

Seeking Justice

If you love Nicholas Cage, Seeking Justice is one of his must see movies. Honestly unlike Ghost Ryder I enjoyed this movie until the end. Some may say the movie is somewhat predictable but I enjoyed it. It is one of his best movies, in my opinion. Its action filled and Nicholas Cage keeps this movie alive with his acting skills. The movie gets into action after Nicholas Cage’s “Will Gerard” wife gets attacked one night as she left a music rehearsal. In the mist of things a man name Simon approaches him offering vengeance for his wife but, with a catch of course, in the near future. He immediately agrees out of anger without even thinking about the consequences he was going to face. He unwillingly pulls himself into a dangerous underground vigilante operation. Again, it is one of the top films, if thrillers and suspense is what you’re looking for.

Natural Selection

On my list of movies to see was Natural Selection. It is a movie that should be on many people’s films lists. This is a story of a devoted Christian woman, not only standing by her husband but, engulfing herself on a mission to unite her husband and his illegitimate son. Though, Linda’s husband was planting his seed in various gardens for the past 25 years, she still stood by her man. You don’t see that too often. It is certainly a heart warming and gut turning movie all at the same time. You get mad and then are immediately left in awe by the power of God and love. Though, I am not a soul bearing Christian, it is always nice to see someone who seems to be a pure Christian and doing what is right. The part that makes this one of the best movies is that she and the foul mouthed, mullet-headed, ex-con son that she was in search of, have a very meaningful relationship in the end.

Detachment

Carl Lund took a leap into the shoes of a substitute teacher, when he wrote the movie Detachment. While, this may not be a part of my best movies list, it is certainly a good movie. A substitute teacher, drifting from one school to another, never really builds any sentiments with other faculty and staff nor students.

This is the case until he enters a particular school. Thanks to three women, a whole new world of emotion is opened up within Henry (the substitute). These three women consist of a student (Meredith), a fellow teacher (Ms. Madison) and, a street hooker (Erica). All three women have one thing in common with Henry; they are all seeking beauty in a seemingly loveless world. If you have yet to see this movie, it is certainly one to be added to your films list.

What is better than a movie about a comic book super hero? A movie about six all-time favorite comic book heros. The Avengers is one of the best movies of the year and is quickly becoming a timeless classic. Directed by the talented Joss Whedon, The Avengers tells the story of Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D , who gathers together a fantastic group of 6 Marvel Comics super humans that work. Not only does this super-crew save people lives, they have a new enemy and find themselves saving the entire world. The audience will love seeing their favorites, including Thor, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, and the Black Widow. In the Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. continues his role as Tony Start/Iron man, Chris Evans jumps into the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America again, and Chris Hemsworth resumes his role as Thor. This is definitely one of TOP ten FILMS of all times and is a great movie for older kids and the entire family.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home

This movie has been on my favorite list, as one I was hoping to catch. It is funny but, also depicts a more realistic life than many other movies do. Jeff, who lives at home with his mother, lives by the mantra that movies guide us through life with signs. Though, Jeff is a complete slacker, he is completely comfortable and at peace with who he is. Meanwhile, his brother Pat is the complete opposite. Married, has a job and a new Porsche. Though, Pat seems to be well put together, he isn’t. With a wild goose chase ahead of the two they begin to learn more about each other. Being a low-budget movie, this has to be one of the greatest movies and more realistic than I have seen in a while. I enjoyed the plot and sub-plot that involves their mother and her job.

If you like to download movies that have a lot of action and bring in the whole man-vs-nature theme you’re going to love The Grey. This is another one of Liam Neeson’s awesome movies and is sure to keep your eyes on the screen. There are no boundaries that are not crossed in this movie about a man in Alaskan wilds fighting to survive. John Ottaway is a hunter and a guard at a far out of the way oil refinery in Alaska and he’s battling depression – among other things. He keeps the workers of the plant safe from the wild animals that threaten their safety.

When the team goes on leave and their plane crashes in the wilds the few survivors must fight their way to safety while being tracked by a pack of wolves. If you love to watch movies this one is going to thrill you!

It was said to be the most anticipated R rated movie of 2012 and is sure to end up on the best movies list of the year. Jonas Hill plays Schmidt. He is known for other roles in The Sitter (2011), Money ball (2011), and Funny People (2009). Channing Tatum plays Jenko. He is known for his role in The Vow (2012), The Dilemma (2011), and Dear John (2010).

Together they are ready to leave their problems of you in the past and decide to join the police force, leading them to the secret Jump Street unit. They use their youthful looks and are sent back to high school in order to bring down a synthetic drug ring. This movie needs to be added to everyone’s movie list as a must see.

The character voices in this movie are very popular stars. Zac Efron is Ted, the boy, Taylor Swift is Audrey, the girl, Danny DeVito is the Lorax, and Betty White is Ted’s wise Grammy. They help to bring this colorful and funny story to life. This is the third movie of this sort from Universal Studios.
