The idea he is obsessed with in this movie is synthetic skin that can withstand almost anything and not get damaged. His quest for real results instead of just lab results leads him to conducting experiments on a human guinea pig, who also happens to be the gorgeous woman that he involved with. There are some truly horrific scenes in this movie but also some very erotic scenes and those results in one of the best movies of the year.
